State officials - looking for ways to fund the war on terrorism - are looking to the Executive Council for help- nearly 900 thousand dollars worth. Attorney General Philip McLaughlin wants 500 thousand dollars for the state Public Health Laboratory to improve testing for chemical and biological materials. Intro airline industryReturn to index of stories... |
The terrorist attacks on September 11th have taken a huge toll on the airline industry. But long before then - experts will tell you - many carriers were already in trouble. Intro Holiday TrafficReturn to index of stories... |
It's estimated that a lot of holiday travelers who would normally fly to their destinations - instead will be taking to the roads this year. Add a Nascar race on Friday in Loudon and the busiest shopping day of the year - and you've got the potential for back-ups on some of New Hampshire Roadways. Bill Boynton of the state department of transportation has some suggestions on how to stay safe and keep your stress level down while you travel the roads this holiday season. |
Holiday TrafficReturn to index of stories... |
01:00:50Well the travel week is busy- not as busy as some of the major holidays of the year, basically because we're between the ski season and the fall foliage season. but we look at 1.2 million travelers on the highway, for example between wed and sun that was last year with the heaviest travel day being on Wednesday, thanksgiving not a real heavy day on thanksgiving. The day after thanksgiving in conjunction with the busiest shopping day of the year is a very busy travel day and of corse this year we have the added issue of the winston cup race being on Friday and that will be 38,000 vehicles and another 100,000 people heading for loudon. 01:30OUT |
